On this page you will find another fine collection of George's NDB images, all of which serve Airports and Airfields in the states of Maryland, Delaware and Philadelphia in the USA. These include the following installations: 'IL' - 248.0 kHz at Wilmington, DE, which is located at position: 39.34-53N / 075.36-50W - [5 pictures], 'UKT' - 208.0 kHz at Quakertown, PA which is located at position: 40-25-28.859N / 075-17-51.747W - [4 pictures], and 'APG' - 349.0 kHz at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD which is located at position: 39-32-09.134N / 076-06-22.952W - [7 pictures].

NDB "IL - 248.0 kHz", WILMINGTON, DE, USA:
IL 248.0 kHz
Located off of Wrangle Hill Road in Delaware City, DE, this NDB is located twelve miles southeast of Wilmington, DE.

The 75 mHz Yagi which serves as the outer marker for runway 90 of the New Castle (DE) Airport, about eight miles to the northwest.

Suspended at about thirty-five feet, the triangular loop antenna, about sixty-five feet on a leg, is fed along one edge by three wires, the center wire of is connected directly to one of the apex points.

An unusual feature ... the security fence and entrance gate are firmly connected to ground.


NDB "UKT - 208.0 kHz", QUAKERTOWN, PA, USA:
UKT 208.0 kHz
UKT-208 is sited in a heavily wooded site off Rock Hill Road in Quakertown, PA. The NDB has been heavily damaged thought to have been caused by hurricane Sandy in late October, 2012.

The west tower, which should have been in view in this picture, was nowhere to be found.

The substantial building housing the equipment. No wire exiting from the rear of building to the center-feed of the symmetrical T was observed nor was any loose wire seen within the security compound. Presumably the site damage had been at least partially cleared.


NDB "APG - 349.0 kHz", ABERDEEN PROVING
GROUNDS, MD, USA:
APG 349.0 kHz
APG-349 is located in the northwest corner of the Havre de Grace Military Reservation, a principal base of the (State of) Maryland National Guard. Located off of Old Bay Lane in Havre de Grace, MD, this NDB is seven miles north of the Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Aberdeen, MD.

The 30 foot poles support a 300 foot long, single wire, symmetrical T antenna.

Responsible authority: Phillips Army Airfield on the grounds of the Aberdeen Proving Grounds, about seven miles to the south.
