On this page you will find another collection of photographs showing some of the Canadian VOR/DME systems, and were again taken by Alex, VE3GOP. In this collection are a number of shots of the VOR/DME 'VIE', which is located in at Coe Hill, Ontario, Canada (44 39 36N, 77 53 20W), and the VOR 'YSO' located just south of Udora, Ontario near to Lake Simcoe (44 14 16N, 79 10 18W). Some of these shots were taken from a drone and show the VORs from an interesting and unusual angle that most people would never get to see. Please note that Alex is a Navaid Technician, so wasn't trespassing on the sites when he took these pictures, he's one of the nice folks that keep them in good working order. NOTE# All of the following pictures are copyright 'Alex Wiecek, and should not be re-produced with out first obtaining his permission - please ask us for his contact details if you should require them.

VIE on 115.1 MHz
A view of what the VOR looks like from the ground level.

VIE on 115.1 MHz
Another wonderful aerial view taken from a drone, it's not often you get to see one from this angle unless you happen to be in an aeroplane or helicopter.

YSO on 117.35 MHz
YSO on 117.35 MHz 'Simcoe' south of Udora, Ontario, Canada - This is the view of the VOR/DME, as seen from a drone. Thanks to having a vast area of land around it with no buildings or trees, Alex was able to get the drone up as high as possible and produce this fantastic image.

YSO on 117.35 MHz
This picture was taken from just above the counterpoise and shows the 48 sideband antennas, reference antenna tee-pee and a DME antenna on top.

Alex has another VOR Gallery as well, just click on the button below to visit it:

We're very grateful to Alex for sharing his photos with us, and if you have shots of your own that you would also like to see on display here in the NDB List Photo Gallery, we would love to hear from you too!
