On this page you will find another fine collection of George's NDB images, all of which serve Airports and Airfields in the state of Tennessee in the USA. These include the following installations: 'HEM' - 233.0 kHz at Sparta, TN which is located at position: 35.59-16.836N / 085.35-10.613W - [4 pictures], 'JHG' - 257.0 kHz at Hohenwald, TN which is located at position: 35.27-44.980N / 087.37-49.024W, and according to airnav.com, this one runs 50 watts - [5 pictures], 'LRT' - 269.0 kHz at Lawrenceburg, TN which is located at position: 35.14-07.941N / 087.15-38.375W - [4 pictures], 'RN' - 209.0 kHz at McMinnville, TN which was located at position: 35.45-08.650N / 085.45-50.936W, is known to have been decommissioned (alonmg with ULH, their antennas and/or power lines have been disconnected - [7 pictures], 'TNY' - 358.0 kHz at Fayetteville, TN which is located at position: 35.08-02.662N / 086.32-31.379W - [4 pictures], There are also pictures of 'ULH' - 332.0 kHz at Tullahoma, TN which is located at position: 35.27-41.674N / 086.14-30.071W - [6 pictures].

Permission to enter this site could not be obtained, which is just as well, for access is through a very muddy region off of Fanchers Mill Road. All pictures were taken from the road with a telescopic lens. The beacon sits atop the hill in the background. (372.0kb)

This NDB is located within the confines of the Lawrenceburg County Airport. The airport is at the intersection of Clanton and Lone Star Roads in Lawrenceburg, TN. (301.0kb)

Situated in an open region to the west of the airport’s runway, the beacon is of a top hat capacitive loading vertical design. (195.0kb)

Note the insulator for upper set of supporting guy wires are located at about the midpoint of these wires, thereby adding capacity to the loading provided by the spokes of the capacitive top hat. (138.0kb)

RN-209 is located on private property along Salem Road in McMinnville TN. This beacon was decommissioned in 2009. In its original design it had a two-wire symmetrical T configuration supported on 30-foot poles spaced 100 yards apart. The picture is of west pole from when standing at the base of east pole. Security apparently is strict. Calls to the telephone numbers listed were unanswered and hence permission the photograph within the compound could not be obtained. All photos were taken while standing on the public road fronting the compound. (402.0kb)

ULH-332, Tullahoma TN is located along Huffman Street at its intersection with Nancy Lane in Normandy, TN. It is of a two-wire symmetrical T design supported by 40 foot towers separated by about 100 yards. (243.0kb)
