Hello all Our 327th Coordinated Listening Event will soon be here and it will be another ‘special’ CLE which hopefully many of us will enjoy. The idea behind CLE327 is to limit our own listening to 10 self-selected frequencies in the range from 190 kHz to 1740 kHz. We did something similar in CLE306 in July 2024 – however, an analysis of beacon data from Rxx revealed, that 48 stations which were logged as part of CLE306 are now set to “inactive” in Rxx (13 from USA and CAN, 35 from COR, DEU, FRA, ISL and SUI)! 11 of the “active” stations which were logged as part of CLE306 are shown in Rxx as having been last logged between Jul. 2024 and Dec. 2024! 34 of the remaining “active” stations which were logged as part of CLE306 are shown in Rxx as not having been logged for the past 7 months! Therefore, it seemed appropriate to increase the number of self-selected frequencies from 8 (CLE306) to 10 for our upcoming event. This CLE will need everyone to spend some quality time beforehand planning how to tackle this listening challenge. Whether you are a regular CLE listener, an occasional one, or have never sent a CLE log, everyone is welcome to join us in this event. Days: Friday 24 April - Monday 27 April Times: Start and end at midday, LOCAL time at the receiver Range: 190 – 1740 kHz Target: NDBs heard on your choice of any TEN frequencies in the range Please join us wherever you are - just log the NDBs you can identify having their nominal frequencies on your 10 pre-selected frequencies and any UNIDs that you may come across there too. NDBs on “Half-frequencies” are OK (e.g. listening on 267 kHz would also include any signal on 267.5 kHz). This will be more of a challenge for many of us away from Europe especially for listeners in Asia and Oceania. However, for Europe and North America there are a number of frequencies which are still quite busy. If you are thinking of joining in it would be interesting to hear, in an email to the List or to ndbcle@ndblist.info before the CLE, what frequencies you plan to use in your own situation. Of course your choice of a frequency will not stop any other listeners from using it too! However, please bear in mind that we should all stick to the 10 frequencies that we’ve selected in advance. Please look out for our full 'Final Details' this coming Wednesday. That will include advice about the NDBs to listen for, how to present your log, etc. Joachim (CLE Coordinator)
